Civilisation class and Dyson occlusion

Civilisation class and Dyson occlusion

The terrestrial year inside the setting is 2026, on a timeline accelerated by luminous metal. After the Ming elixir entered history, scientific knowledge reached early-modern standing within about three centuries. By 2026, humanity is a Kardashev Type II civilisation. A stellar collection structure is complete in the Solar System, and most of the star's photon output is intercepted.

A high-energy collider array on the inner shell continuously extracts glueball condensate from the QCD vacuum. A glueball is a pure gauge bound state of self-coupled gluons, containing no valence quarks. In this engineering system it serves both as an ultra-dense storage medium and as the negative-pressure working mass for curvature drive.

Occlusion has two consequences. Visible light and ultraviolet are captured at scale, photosynthesis and circadian rhythm collapse, and Earth and Mars remain light-starved. The less visible consequence is secondary strong-interaction noise in near-Earth space, so that double-strand breaks and epigenetic drift accumulate by generation. The human lifespan ceiling falls by about five to six years every twenty years. At first activation the curve still approached its historical peak. By the setting's present, most individuals enter irreversible systemic failure after their early forties, and the reproductive window narrows with it. Interstellar colonisation is therefore a condition of species continuity.
