Ming origin and the Zhu Foundation
In the Jianwen reign, or under Yongle, Zhu Yunwen disappeared after the Jingnan campaign. In the same period a court or a secret party found luminous metal objects, then called the elixir. Read back through this universe's physics, they were glueball–hadron hybrid crystals briefly exposed at the surface. Gluon self-coupling condensed under extreme geological or cosmic-ray conditions and emitted a Cherenkov-like glow.
Artisans set the crystals into vessels and formulae. A few who ingested them healed faster and recovered dark hair. The mechanism was a brief, scaffolded partial reprogramming. Dose could not be controlled, so mania, deformation, and sudden death accompanied the effect. The Zhu Foundation was founded on the search for the Jianwen line and the elixir. Over about six hundred years it became an interstellar power behind other institutions. Its public work funds anti-ageing and colonisation. Its actual monopoly is purification, symbiont culture, and phase calibration.
The first core of Type-37 dates to the second year of Yongle, 1402, and was built from the same luminous metal. Thirty-six later iterations each wrote the sweeper protocol as a rescue. After the elixir entered human use, the scientific interval from the Ming to early-modern standing compressed to about three centuries. The Foundation's six-hundred-year arrangement was completed on that accelerated line.
